INFORMATION SECURITY

You wouldn’t use a universal lock on your front door. You wouldn’t give away your house key.

Information security is just as important as personal security! This is why we use difficult passwords, change our passwords frequently, and don’t purposefully provide private information to unknown parties.

At PDI we frequently see phishing attempts. Email Phishing is the process of trying to acquire sensitive information (such as passwords) by pretending to be a trustworthy entity. Most commonly, a phishing email tries to lure you to click on a link or open an attachment.

Recently we’ve seen phishing emails appearing to come from PDI, PDI employees and departments within our company.

Please be sure to practice our PDI IT Best Practices for information security by asking yourself these questions:

  1. Who is the email from? Do we communicate regularly?
  2. Is this their writing style? Are there misspellings?
  3. Is the email account a spoof? PDI employee emails will always include our corporate signature.
  4. Are there suspicious hyperlinks? Hover over a link to see its destination.
  5. Was I expecting this email or attachment?
  6. Are they threatening or asking for private information?

If any of these are true, it’s better to be safe than sorry! Always forward any suspicious emails to PDIHelpDesk so we can be aware of any phishing attempts and let you know if something is safe. You can also stop back at this page to see recent examples of phishing and spam emails we’ve received at PDI.

Introducing the Mimecast email filter and Daily Digest!

Starting on Thursday, May 29th, users at Power Design will receive the Digest email from Mimecast if they have any suspicious incoming emails that have been caught in the email filter.

The Digest will give you more control to accept, release, or block incoming emails from certain senders or in a particular instance.

Looking for emails between Digests? If you believe you’ve not received an email that was sent to you, visit your new Mimecast Okta tile to see what’s in your hold queue at any time of the day.

Learn more about your control with Digest emails.

Thank you for keeping PDI more secure!
